Spreadsheet eg. of Dimensionality

When you consider the meaning of a number, say the blue 338 in the picture below, the families of things it represents are called dimensions.

Data dimensionality

A spreadsheets can only effectively show 2 dimensions at any one time, beyond that inner dimension headers need repeating. In the example above all the row and column headers are repeated on every regional and summary sheet. In Excel, pivot tables are a great way around this limitation. headers are still often repeated, but the ability to pivot from one dimensional view to another allows effective analysis.
