The new interface is the biggest barrier to adoption of Excel 2007. Research suggests 80% of users do not like the interface, mainly because of the lost productivity from searching for commands that are known in the 2003 menu and toolbar structure. Experience shows users get very frustrated when they are under pressure and can't find the commands they need.
Our Classic tab, adds a new tab to the ribbon that contains the 2003 menu structure. This allows experienced users to maintain their productivity whilst benefiting from the great new features in this latest Excel.
Simple Deployment
There are other Ribbon replacements, compatibility menus, or classic menu tools out there, the difference with ours is the simple deployment. There is no install, no setup.exe. There is even a version with no VBA, just a customised workbook (although this version is not quite as configurable). Codematic Classic Tab does not require any other technologies - if you have Excel 2007 you can use classic tab.
Had Microsoft included this feature out of the box, we are sure it would have boosted Office 2007 uptake. Anyway, its here now!
Usage Options
You can choose to replace the whole 2007 structure with the 2003 one, or you can add it an an additional tab, this would be our recommendation. The download also includes a pre-customised QAT (Quick Access Toolbar, the little toolbar at the top) with some of the most useful commands available. Classic tab is written by Excel users for Excel users, we don't do Word tabs, or Powerpoint. We just focus on helping people get the best from Excel 2007.
There is a free demo version here. This version has a fully working File menu and all the other menus just have a couple of working commands. This version is just so you can see the simple installation (and removal), and the convenience.
The full version of Classic Tab comes with a 30 day money back guarantee so you can buy in confidence. And it comes with full commercial grade support. Visit our shop here to purchase.
Right Click Menus
Consistent with the Office 2007 vision of putting formatting tools front and centre, Excel's worksheet right click menu has increased significantly in size.

There is no way to turn off the floatie formatting toolbar via the standard Excel Interface. With Codematic Classic Tab it is simple:
