About SIMON MURPHY Spreadsheet Developer and Mentor

Simon is a dedicated software developer specialising in extending Excel using a range of database technologies and programming environments. His skills have been honed over 15 years commercial development experience as a consultant and contractor across Europe and across industries and business functions. He also contributes regularly on the Excel-L developers list, Microsoft.Public.Excel.Programming, and Eusprig (European Spreadsheet Risks Group).

Spreadsheets that Simon has developed, or maintains for clients, are currently analysing billions of dollars daily. His commercial and free tools are used every day by thousands of organisations. He writes robust enterprise quality systems for household name corporations, incorporating a wide range of technologies, usually including Excel somewhere.

Simon has an MSc in Software development, has an MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) qualification in Excel (from 1996), is an MCAD (Microsoft Certified Application Developer) and MCSD (Microsoft Certified Solution Developer). He also knows a bit about security being a CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker).

As well as spreadsheet development, Simon also develops databases - both Relational and OLAP, and writes commercial products in C# and C++. He also does the odd bit of web work, mainly in Visual Studio.

Simon is also a joiner and cabinet maker.
